Roasted Cauliflower Steak

A thick stab of roasted cauliflower steak ! It has such a “meaty” texture, and the smoky spicy seasonings make this humble vegetable quite a satisfying dish.

Roasted Cauliflower Steak

I assume we are all familiar with the Cauliflower Buffalo Wings, right? Well, next to that popular cauliflower dish, this oven-roasted cauliflower steak is my favorite. It’s so hearty and flavorful. Plus, it’s extremely easy to make; just cut, season and roast.

How to cut cauliflower

The trick to cutting cauliflower into thick slices is to leave the stem intact. Just remove the leaves and do NOT cut the stem off. Slice directly through the stem. I usually get 3 or 4 slices from one head of cauliflower. Some end pieces will inevitably fall off, but that’s okay. You can still cook them and get tasty roasted cauliflower florets.

Ingredients

  • 1 head cauliflower
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp liquid smoke
  • parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 425℉/220℃.
  • Remove the leaves from the cauliflower head, but do not trim the stem. Cut the cauliflower into 3~4 thick slices. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Mix the rest of the ingredients in bowl. Brush mixture generously on both sides of the cauliflower slices.
  • Bake in the oven for 15 minutes. Flip slices over and bake for an additional 10 to 15 minutes, until golden brown.
  • Garnish with parsley. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • カリフラワー 1株
  • オリーブオイル 大さじ2
  • 塩 小さじ1
  • ガーリックパウダー 小さじ1/2
  • オニオンパウダー 小さじ1/2
  • スモークパプリカ 小さじ1
  • チリパウダー 小さじ1
  • リキッドスモーク 小さじ1 無ければ、スモークパプリカを小さじ1/2追加
  • パセリ 飾り

Instructions

  • オーブンを220℃に予熱する。
  • カリフラワーを縦に1.5cm程度の厚さに切る。クキは付けてまま切ると、崩れにくいです。切ったカリフラワーをクッキングシートを敷いた天板に並べる。
  • 残りの材料を全てボウルに入れて混ぜ合わせる。ハケでたっぷりカリフラワーの両面に塗る。
  • オーブンで15分焼く。一度、オーブンから出しカリフラワーをひっくり返し、さらに10〜15分焼く。しっかり焼き色が付いたら出来上がりです!
