This is a quick recipe for Tempeh Bacon. Give this smoky, savory, sweet and slightly spicy vegan bacon a try! The recipe only takes 20 minutes to make.

- 100 grams tempeh
- 1/2 tbsp olive oil
For the Marinade
- 3 tbsp tamari or low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 1/2 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 1/2 tsp liquid smoke if you don't have liquid smoke, add an additional 1/2 tsp smoked paprika instead
Slice the tempeh into thin strips.
Mix all the ingredients for the marinade. Add the marinade and the sliced tempeh to a flat-bottomed container and marinate for 10 minutes.
Heat olive oil in a frying pan. Cook the tempeh until golden brown and crispy on both sides.
Serve while warm. To make a vegan BLT, build the sandwich with the tempeh bacon, your choice of vegan bread, lettuce, slices tomatoes, and any other veggies you like. I love adding sprouts and sliced avocados in my BLT.
